National Night Out has been an annual community event since 1983. The event is held the first Tuesday in August, as part of a community building campaign whose purpose is to promote police/community partnerships, as well as bring neighborhoods together in an effort to create a safer place to live.
National Night Out is meant to be a day where friends & neighbors hold block parties to strengthen their community and crime resistance, as well as get to know their local public safety officers and get to know their neighbors better.
The City of North Plains will once again be holding it’s National Night Out event at the Jessie Mays Community Park on Tuesday, August 6th from 6-8 PM. Community members will have the opportunity to meet the City of North Plains interim Police Chief, James Wheaton. In addition neighbors will have the opportunity to meet personnel from the Oregon Coast Guard and Oregon State Police.
Feel free to pack a picnic dinner and hang out at the park or partake in the light dinner of hot dogs, chips, refreshments and dessert that the City of North Plains will be providing.
I hope to see you there!
