Ways To Make New Years Eve Special At Home

I think we all have come to accept that there isn’t one holiday in the past 10 months that as been normal.  We haven’t celebrated with our families, and it has just flat out been/felt weird.  I know that many of us are saddened that there isn’t the opportunity to go out and celebrate New Years Eve in a traditional fashion, however you can still make the night special from home with a few of these ideas:

  1.  Dress up.  That’s right just because you’re celebrating at home doesn’t mean you can’t dress up.  Heck, even I’ve taken to wearing make-up every day even though I don’t really have anywhere to go just for the fact that it makes me feel good.
  2.  Create a signature cocktail for the evening.
  3.  Do what we’ve been doing for months now with special events, have a Zoom New Years Eve party
  4. Watch the ball drop from Time Square.  Yes even that celebration will be more virtual but at least the tradition of the ball dropping is still going to happen, and I know we are all looking forward to it.
  5. Make some of your favorite appetizers, and why not share recipes with your friends so you all can be enjoying the same food?
  6. Plan a Zoom toast with friends to ring in 2021.
  7. Bing Netflix – it’s a great time to watch Tiger King if you haven’t already
  8. Host a virtual dance/karaoke party
  9. Charcuterie Board anyone?
  10. Pop some confetti at midnight
  11. Create a decadent dessert worthy of 2021

I Love Unique Jewelry…

I am that person on your gift list that LOVES unique jewelry.  I do not want to wear something that I’m going to see on every other person out there.  Case in point on year for Mother’s Day my daughter bought me T-Rex earrings from Coach because I saw them in the store and fell in love.  Plus how many people are going to wear T-Rex earrings.  Hmmmm maybe I need a T-Rex costume to go with them?  That’s a whole nother story.

So since I love unique jewelry I love to find local artists who make amazing jewelry to give to those hard to shop for women on my gifts list.  We all have them, the ones that have everything.  Therefore when I found this week’s Local Etsy Shop of the week I knew I had to share.  It is Asakawa Silver located in Hillsboro, OR.  I am more than a little bit obsessed with the bee earrings.

The owner/artist is Monte Gueber and he takes his inspiration for the unique pieces he creates from the world around us.  From beautiful butterflies to honeycombs there is certainly a unique piece of jewelry for someone on your gifts list.

Lavender oh how I love you.

soap-2726387_1920Lavender is one of my favorite scents, especially in the evening because it helps me to relax.  Therefore I love any and all bath products that have lavender in them.  I recently purchased a package of Night Time Bath Salts from Homemade Wellness by Jamie in North Plains, Oregon and they were a perfect way to relax after a stressful day.  The smell was amazing as she uses Dead Sea salt, Epsom salt, baking soda, lavender & cedarwood essential oils & dried lavender.

If soaking in a hot tub is not your thing she also has some other amazing products.  I also purchased The Valerie – An Orange Spice Goats Milk Soap as well.  It’s made from olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, goat’s milk, dark red brazilian clay, orange, cinnamon & star anise essential oils. Topped with star anise, dried marigold & dried safflower petals.  Friends, I am not a fan of licorice or the smell of it so I was a little concerned about the star anise, I LOVE IT!!!!!!  It honestly is the perfect smell for fall.

If you are looking for a great smelling natural product then be sure to check out all that Jamie has to offer:  Homemade Wellness by Jamie  I love being able to support a small local business and will be back to get some Christmas presents checked off my list.
